Today marks the first day of the 2018 Indiana General Assembly legislative session. As you put the holidays behind you and gear up for 2018, please make sure you clear your calendar for a very important event – Dental Day at the Capitol on Monday, February 12.
This year’s event will be different in several ways:
- We will be Joined by 100 IUSD Students – We are combining our Dental Day, with Oral Health Policy Day a similar meeting that previously was a standalone student event.
- A New Program – We are merging the best elements of Dental Day and Oral Health Policy Day into a new program that you will find helpful and engaging. Governor Eric Holcomb is our invited keynote speaker.
- Legislative Appointments will be Prescheduled – At the request of legislators and dentists, we will be scheduling appointments with legislators in advance of Dental Day. So we need to know, in advance, that you plan to come.
We need your participation at this year’s event, more than ever. We will pair students and other first time attendees with mentors who can accompany them on legislative visits. We realize it’s a big ask – Monday is a busy practice day for most dental practices. But this is our best opportunity to connect with legislators at the State House.
The event will be at the ISTA meeting facility, directly across Capitol Avenue from the State House. Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 8:45am; the program will begin at 9:30am. The morning will focus on special presentations, issues briefings and presentation tips. Following lunch at noon, we will travel across the street for our legislative visits.
There is no charge for the event but we do need you to register ASAP. This will allow us to schedule meetings and provide you periodic issue updates between now and Dental Day.

We look forward to seeing you on February 12.
