A special thanks to IDA member Dr. Jill Burns who recently represented the American Association of Dental Boards (AADB) as their president at the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) 2017 Annual Session. The meeting was held Saturday, March 18 through Tuesday, March 21 in Long Beach, CA. According to the ADEA, the focus of this year’s convention was to challenge participants to transcend the familiar and explore the unexpected questions behind more effective learning, scholarship, teaching, professional development and patient care.
“It was great to catch up with ADA President-elect Joe Crowley, ADA Executive Director Kathleen O’Loughlin, and ADA President Gary Roberts,” said Dr. Burns. “We were all recognized at the opening session of the convention.” (see featured image above)
Dr. Burns especially enjoyed the keynote presentation by astronaut Mae Jemison who discussed how expanding on innovations in science can influence human potential.
The American Association of Dental Boards (AADB) is a national association that encourages the highest standards of dental education, promotes higher and uniform standards of qualifications for dental practitioners, and advocates uniform methods in the conduct, operation, and working of dental examining boards. Dr. Burns’ membership in the AADB is actively encouraged and supported by the IDA.
