ADAPT is Coming to Indiana

HomeNews2019October

IDA is excited to announce that ADA Practice Transitions (ADAPT) will be coming to Indiana! ADAPT can help you find a job, buy or sell a practice, or hire an associate. Rather than an MLS-type service, a dedicated ADA Advisor guides you through each step and will only suggest dentists or practices that meet your criteria and share your approach to dentistry, setting you up for long-term success.

Each year, IDA presents two awards at the Indiana University School of Dentistry: Outstanding Faculty and Outstanding Teaching. Last week, Dr. Jeffrey Platt received both prestigious IDA awards and is the first faculty member in recent memory to have received both awards at the same time.

Dr. Platt has lectured in dentistry around the world and conducted nationally-recognized research on oral health topics. Dr. Platt is a full professor at IUSD and has published in more than 100 magazines and journals.

Pictured with Dr. Platt receiving his award is IUSD Dean Dr. Carol Ann Murdoch-Kinch and IDA Executive Director Doug Bush. Congratulations to Dr. Platt for his hard work and dedication to the dental profession!

Mouthguards have been shown to reduce the risk of sport-related dental injuries, but studies have found that a majority of young American athletes are not wearing guards during sports. The ADA’s consumer website, MouthHealthy.org, provides information on the benefits of athletic mouthguards and the dangers of dental trauma. The site also lists athletic mouthguards that have earned the ADA Seal of Acceptance. As fall season sports wind down and winter sports begin, don’t miss this chance to educate yourself on the importance of protecting the oral health of athletes in your family.
