Job Description

Dental assistants work alongside the dentist and assist with his or her dental procedures. Specific tasks dental assistants might perform include:

• Taking x-rays
• Infection control
• Assisting the dentist chairside with the delivery of instruments and dental materials
• Helping to educate patients about care
• A variety of office management tasks in the front office or with patients

Education and Training*

Most dental assistants go through a training program at community colleges or at vocational/technical schools.
