The Indiana Dental Political Action Committee (IDPAC) is a voluntary, non-profit, unincorporated group of dentists and their spouses whose mission is to elect state candidates who are concerned about dentistry. IDPAC has a goal of 100 new members and $100,000 in contributions this year.
IDPAC is an essential component of IDA’s efforts to advance legislation that supports dentists and promotes dentistry in the state of Indiana. IDPAC stands for Indiana Dental Political Action Committee. A political action committee is an organization whose purpose is to raise and distribute campaign funds to candidates seeking political office. There are two different types of PACs; IDPAC is a separate segregated funds (SSF) PAC. As an SSF PAC, IDPAC can only solicit contributions from individuals associated with or connected to the IDA (i.e., dentists, spouses, dental staff).
Federal law and Indiana law prohibit the use of membership dues money for making contributions to candidates. Our goals can only be realized through your direct contributions to IDPAC. Donating to IDPAC helps fund efforts to protect patients from outside interests and advance the profession.
Dentistry’s voice cannot be heard completely without the support of all members. Currently many members do not contribute to IDPAC. These members are counting on the others to carry the burden. We need you as much as you need us. If every member does his or her fair share, we will all benefit. Your support can mean the difference between laws that are fair and laws that are not. It’s as simple as that. We have an opportunity to make a change in IDPAC.
