25 Sep A Dental Home by Age-One: How and Why
Both the American Dental Association (ADA) and American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD) have been long-time advocates of the Age One Dental Visit. However, many general dentists and some pediatric dentists have been slow to put the policies into practice. They are either uncomfortable seeing very young children, or they simply don’t understand why those early visits are important.
In order to make an impact in early caries, general dentists need to include infants and young children in their regular family practices. This course will show dentists exactly how to incorporate the age one dental visit into their current practice.
Course Objectives:
- Recognize the need for the Age One Dental Visit and developing a dental home
- Identify signs of early childhood caries and learn to perform a caries risk assessment
- Learn how to utilize the knee-to-knee examination and provide guidance to parents and caregivers
- Discover how to treat early childhood caries and identify situations for delaying treatment
